In the first workshop we’ll cook recipes inspired by the Rose and Crocus flower fairies.
The world’s most expensive spice saffron is made by drying out the inner stigmas of the crocus plant and is often used to flavour dishes like Moroccan tagine. Dried rose flowers are also used in North African recipes such as harissa, so we thought that a North African inspired feast was the best way of exploring the significance of these two flowers in the kitchen!

During the workshop we will learn about these ingredients, flavours and uses as well as practicing our knife skills, and learning how to follow a recipe. At the end of the session we will eat everything we’ve cooked!
The course will take place in our food learning studio. All food and equipment is provided and the session includes a light vegetarian lunch.
The cooking workshop is ideally suited to children aged 6-10 accompanied by an adult. However if children have attended one of our cooking workshops at the Garden Museum before and are aged 8 and above they may attend unaccompanied.
